Palm Springs

So between being sick for that last week and a half and crazy days and hours at work I have had no time to update. Anyhow, a week and a half ago I had the chance to go with the girls to Palm Springs in celebration of Becky's 27th birthday. The first day in Cali Steph and I met up in the early morning for a day in LA. We had a blast cruising all over the city (literally all over) I think we did a full circle of the city, all the while with out temperature gage in the VW Bug flashing at us. The day started out with a search for cheap designer jeans...but every place we tried to find had closed! Can you believe that? By the time we decided we were out of luck we were starving! Thus a new quest began...the search for In and Out. With out tummies filled we thought it may be a good idea to trade our cute little car in for something that wouldn't break down on us in the middle of the desert, we did have a 2 hour drive to Palm Springs that night...we traded our cute little convertible bug for a much more practical Saturn Vue (small SUV) and headed to pick up Becky's sister Heather from the airport. From there we headed to Manhattan Pizzeria at Manhattan Beach, Steph and I discovered this place last year when we can to LA for a weekend. They seriously have some of the best pizza!

Then we went to the pier to look at the water and enjoy the ocean air

Then it was FINALLY time to pick up our Beckers! Then we were off to Palm Springs. Along the way we stopped and got a milkshake to share for a pick me up little did we know how badly we would need it! You would think that with mapquest directions we could make it there with no issues...but we were wrong! 4 hours later we arrived at the condo. Day 2 we slept in and then went to brunch at this great place...delicious!

It was so good we went back the next day. Then we headed back to the condo for an afternoon at the pool.

That night we headed to the street fair that is held downtown every Thursday. They had all sorts of little shops and vendors lining the streets. It kind of reminded me of a mini Summer Fest. We enjoyed delicous carmel and chocolate covered apples...Mmmm. The next day I woke up sick :( I was pretty much worthless the rest of the trip. The girls went on an awesome hike and I slept. We went to the amazing outlets. I got pulled over in California for doing a California Stop...and we had a delicous dinner at Kobe. They had a great fish pond out front, with food to feed them. They would seriously almost attack each other for the food!

And then when we got back to the condo Steph drugged me....

It was so great to spend time with the girls! Thanks ladies, hopefully we can all get together soon again! xoxo

Winter?

The weather man said we would have winter like weather -- well he was right we got 11 inches of snow at our house this weekend...

Sunday Night

Last night I went over to Austin's for his mom's birthday dinner. So a little cheesy, but I love his family especially Dari his 5 year old little sister...she is adorable! We played a game of memory and Candy Land together...and can I say she kicked my butt at both, and I really did try! In memory she beat me 22 matches to 13. Anyhow after we got done playing she drew me a picture on her magna-doodle and wanted me to take a picture of her with it.

Thoughts...

Now that things have settled down a little and I can think a bit more clearly on the events of the week. It is very strange to think that just one week ago I had an interview for the job with RSRV, and today I am transitioning into the job. I have found that things in my life never seem to move slowly. Don't get me wrong I love it when I am not waiting around for things to happen. I generally know right off the bat whether or not I like something or someone, I have learned to trust that instinct. I am very excited about my new/old job, I sat in on 2 meetings today and it got me excited to be back in the "mix" of things. But I also had a sad realization today, I am going to miss my job. I am going to miss harassing Charlie every day, having Cody 3 feet away to complain to, and about a million other things...I guess over all I just feel very blessed that I have been so lucky with having such great jobs with such great people to work with and for.

Good Day??

What constitutes a good day??? Well mine has been pretty dang good! Last year at this time I applied for a job, a job that I loved. I have been here for a year now and love the people that I work with, but have been longing to get back to the more technical side of things. So when my old job opened up at a promotion I was excited. I felt a bit torn because my currently job is a blast, but felt strongly that I should apply. I interviewed last week on Friday and tried to push it out of my mind of over the weekend. I knew that I had a heads up on the competition, since I had done the job for 3 years previously...but you never really know. Plus it was a little nerve racking being in a formal interview with 3 managers you know so well. Anyhow, today I came into work with the expectation of finding out about the job, but little did I know what the day had in store. First thing my current manager called me in and presented me with a nice raise and promotion! I was so excited! Then my old manager came over and called me over to his office, he then offered me the job. At this point I was in shock! I formally accepted the job, on the condition that I could help my current manager out until he found someone as wonderful as me ;) lol But really, I would never want to leave him in a bind so for now I have two jobs. The ironic part of this whole situation...that I will be going back to my old job one year and one day later then when I left...funny how things work out.

Conference Weekend

We were lucky this weekend and had the opportunity to attend two sessions of conference. Austin's fabulous dad got us tickets for the Saturday PM session, so we took Becky and Doug with us. The session was amazing, my favorite talk was by Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin, he was so funny and such a sweet old man. Below is a picture of the four of us before we headed inside...I had the old gentleman behind us take the picture and he kind of cut Doug off...oops.

Austin and I had just planned on watching the Sunday afternoon session at his house, but my mom and Mike had extra tickets to the session so we went with them. I was bad and didn't take a photo of the four of us...but I did take one of the choir and the General Authorities...including the First Presidency. Unfortunately my camera wouldn't zoom enough to get a shot of President Monson :( Sunday afternoon session my favorite talks were by Elder Russell M. Nelson and President Thomas S. Monson. We are so blessed that we live so close that we can see our prophet speak in person....

SNOW!!!!

IT SNOWED!!!! Granted it will probably melt today -- but at least it means the ski season is rapidly approaching....

Love Handles

Who would have thought that your love handles could get so sore?!?! I went and saw the evil Adrianne last night -- jk jk -- he is not evil. I actually really like going and being tortured, I always feel so much better after, plus I can feel myself getting stronger. If any of you want some killer exercises for your fat under your butt, butt and core...let me know.

I lived through another night, I got back on Thursday....I just can believe how sore my LH are...but it sure is making work on my posture. (slouching makes it more sore)

Okay that is enough complaining from me!
