Recovery

So I have been a blogger slacker! I like to use surgery and pain meds as my excuse...As most of you know I had surgery last Tuesday for my Endometriosis. The surgery went great and thanks to the pain meds the days pasted very quickly. I would post some pictures of my "battle wounds" but to be frank I don't want pictures of my tummy floating around the Internet, plus they aren't that pretty. My belly button is all bruised and looked like a prego button for a few days. Thankfully the "air" they put in your stomach and the swelling went down rather quickly.

Beck, Ryker and I lounging on the couch

The day after my surgery my best friend in the whole entire world came in from Chicago! Steph is the most perfect friend you could ever have!! I was so excited to see her, but having surgery kind of put a damper on "exciting adventures" for this visit. Luckily with Becky's c-section she wasn't up for much either. On the days that I was feeling like I could move I went and spent the days with Steph, Beck and Ryker on the couch. It was so much fun to hang out with the girls and pass baby Ry Ry around for snuggles. They both made my recovery wonderful, everything is better with great friends around. Please don't mind how terrible I look in the pictures, remember I was recovering :)

The goldens loved the flowers, they kept going up and sticking their noses in them to smell

While I was at home recovering the day after surgery I had a phone call from the florist asking if I would be home to accept a delivery, I was a little drugged up on pain meds so I didn't really process what they met -- until the most AMAZING bouquet of red roses and stargazer lilies showed up at my house. My amazing old boss Michael Jordan had sent them to me. He is seriously the sweetest, most genuine, caring person I have ever met! He has played many roles in my life since I met him two and a half years ago, boss, counselor, baker, florist and last but not least friend. Thank you Mike, the flowers have made my week! They are still beautiful -- I've been making my mom change the water for me! (we both know I wouldn't remember to do it)

Also my wonderful group at work sent me a gift basket full of goodies that made me and my family very happy :) They are so wonderful to work with, and I love them all so much! Thanks guys!

Syd taking care of me

Last but not least I want to thank my mom for taking care of me. I am not an easy person to take care of -- I can be a bit demanding if you can imagine that. But she put up with me, even making me homemade chicken noodle soup for my post op meal.

Tomorrow it is back to work -- I just hope I can finally wear something but sweats! So far my tummy has been way to sore to wear anything but sweats...

Mothers Day Road Trip

For mothers day we went up to my grandmas house in Weston Idaho. You are probably wondering where that is -- please see map below.

So I loaded up the Golden's, and Syd and we headed to grandmas house! Kate was my co-pilot. She insisted on riding in the middle the whole way there. Alternating between keeping watch and snuggling. Kate is not usually a snugly dog, but put her in the car and she wants to ride on your lap, snuggle your arm, or lay her head in your lap the whole way there.

Princess Syd quickly learned that with Kate in the middle hogging her mom she couldn't sit up front, but then discovered that she could just lay on top of Kate and get a great view out the front window....

Bode was feeling left out, and decided to sleep in the trunk -- I laid the seats down to give the dogs more room. Little did I know that two of them insisted on being in the front as much as they could get away with! And yes that is my ski boot you can see -- I finally decided it was time to take my skis out of the car, but didn't have the heart to take all of my ski stuff out yet :(

Okay and one last picture -- this will show you how great of a job Kate did at helping me keep an eye on the road -- she looks so intense!

Hexe

Coopers dog Hexe (Hexa) is the sweetest German Shepard I have ever met. She is a white Shepard, and so beautiful. Coop has had her in a blue color for ages, so she looked like a boy...and me being some what of a girly girl thought she needed a pink one! So I went ahead and got her one, it fits her so perfectly! She is to the point now where she remembers me, and we are quickly becoming best friends. I love to cuddle her, and she likes to try and make out with me.

This picture was taken when she kicked me off the couch...her couch...spoiled dog :)

Baby Ry Ry

Becky's baby Ryker Douglas Langford was born on May 6 at 3:14 pm. He was 7 lbs 15 oz and 21 inches! I went up to the hospital and spent some time with Becky, Doug and Ryker last night, and he is the sweetest most adorable baby EVER!!! Congrats Becky and Doug --

Saturday -- Pedis and Shopping

On Thursday at ANTM night, I convinced Becky that we should go and get pedicures and manicures before she had baby Ry Ry. So Saturday we went to Amy's Nails to get beautified! It was so much fun, and we decided we need to do it more often! Becky is so stinking cute and such a chatter! It turned out to be a good thing we went on Saturday, because at Becky's doctor appointment on Monday they decided to induce her! They welcomed baby Ryker Douglas into the world Tuesday at 3:14 pm he was 7lbs 15 oz and 21 inches! Congrats Becky and Doug!!!
After pedi mani's my mom and I went over to DSW, it's a new shoe store in Layton. Oh my gosh, it is a fabulous store, kind of like heaven but with more shoes :) When Steph gets here -- we are going shoe shopping!

Snowbasin Closing :(

Yesterday was the closing day at Snowbasin -- It is so depressing! Mike, my Mom, Jake, the pups and I went up in the afternoon to drop some things off at the Patrol room. We decided to stay and enjoy the live music on the plaza. There were so many old drunk people, it was such a great time watching them dance away, and the band was great! And it was so nice to sit in the warm sun in such beautiful surroundings! I think I could live up there! As we left Mike and I declared next weekend a "Bird Weekend"! Meaning, we will be skiing Snowbird next weekend, we are already going through withdrawals!

I honestly don't know what I am going to do with my summer. I have thus far created a list of things I want to learn to do, or plan on getting better at.

- I am going to learn to fly fish, I have requested a grey pole with pink string from my step father who builds poles

- Hiking - I plan on doing hikes around the area that I have always heard about -- yet never had the desire to do

- Running - I am going to do a marathon next year, so regardless of what it takes I am going to become a runner. I have my shoes, and schedule and I am slowly working towards endurance...it's going to be a long process :)

- Climbing - I think I will really like the coming down part, but I am sure the getting up there is too....we'll see

- Yoga - This is in honor of my Stephy! I know I will love it, I just need to start going...or have her move here to train me! This will be good for the marathon training as well!

Puppy ER...Take 2

Friday night I came home from Park City around 11:30, from having sushi with my bro and some friends. I went into my mom's room to grab Syd and headed into the living room to watch a show or two. It was at that point I realized my poor puppies face was all swollen.

I took her into my mom's room to see if she had noticed the swelling earlier in the night, but she hadn't. She said the only thing she had eaten differently was a pigs ear dog treat. We figured that some benadryl would take care of the swelling, so I gave her a half a pill and just kept an eye on her. Well at 5:30am she woke up, throwing all over the place. Within 30 minutes she had thrown up 7 times. So I rushed her to the emergency vet.

Since it was only 6 am there was limited people on the road and the ER was empty. The doctor got her in and checked her out, she said she could feel that Syd's stomach was still really upset, and she was concerned that the benadryl had not taken the swelling down more. Then recommended 4 different shots, along with hydrating her, they were concerned her electrolytes were low from throwing up so much. So an hour and $212.00 later we were out of the vets office and on our way home. Sydnee is finally back to her sassy self, and all the swelling is gone! My poor baby!

Tick-Tock-Tick-Tock

When did the days at work get so stinking long. I have a zero attention span today -- resulting in the longest day EVER!!!!! Will it ever end??

Funniest "Person" I know

Okay so my dog is seriously the funniest person I know -- She is such a sassy little brat! Everyday when I get home from work she is so excited to see me. She will take me to the couch and get me to lay down so she can cuddle with me. She will lay on her back across my chest and snuggle up, making me rub her tummy. So yesterday I decided I would take a picture of this. Well my little one has a 6th sense about cameras -- she will try and move when ever she she knows it will be a cute picture. Yesterday was the exception, I was going to take a picture of me kissing her on the cheek as she cuddled, but instead she open her mouth to yawn, so I hurry and snapped it. I thought it was kind of a funny one :) So here it is!

Munchkin Feet

Last night was America Next Top Model night, Becky made Pot Stickers, Fried Rice, Fruit Salad and Fiesta Dip -- kind of random but so delicious! This week we added a little variation to our tradition, and watched The Bachelor as well! We had such a great time! Thank you Becky for being such a great host week after week!

Now on to the munchkin feet -- poor Becky is starting to swell. She only has about 3 or 4 weeks left in her pregnancy, but you can tell she is getting to the miserable part! So last night I gave her a mini pedicure! We trimmed her toe nails, gave her a massage and painted them red. So now when her feet are in the stir ups her toes will look beautiful! :) Here is a picture of her cute swollen feet!

My Boys

On Monday night I had the pleasure of seeing my favorite 3 boys in the whole world! Billy was in town from Phoenix, and Parker and Andy came out of hiding! We all got together at the Sky Box to have a little dinner and watch the Jazz game. I love these boys more then anything! (Please ignore my bit of a sunburn from skiing on Sunday)

Deer Valley

Okay let me just start by saying that I had an amazing weekend! Well mainly an amazing Friday and Sunday. Friday I was able to go up to Basin for the day, it was my favorite ski day ever! The snow was just amazing in the morning, it was like skiing on velvet -- heaven. I honestly didn't ever want it to end.
So a couple weeks ago my wonderful friend Andy asked me if I would like two Deer Valley comp tickets. So yesterday Coop and I went down and skied, it was such a pretty day, and I have the sunburn to prove it. I was having so much fun that I actually forgot to take pictures!

Upgrades

Over the past week I decided it was time to upgrade my sleeping conditions. First I went out and bought a memory foam topper for my bed and new memory foam pillows, this was a very good investment! I have been sleeping a whole lot better, well until last night. Over the weekend I also decided to buy a new comforter for my bed. I have had the same one for the past 5 years, so I think it was time for an upgrade! Well this also means I got new sheets! I HATE new sheets, they are scratchy. I feel like you have to wash them 10 times before they feel "good". So I tossed and turned until 1 am trying to just forget about my sheets, finally I ended up falling asleep, but I think when I get home the sheets are going through a couple wash cycles before bed tonight! Anyways I love my new comforter, it is a little "elegant" but I like it!

What Lies Ahead --

This is what I have to look forward to today -- a beautiful day of spring skiing!!! By the way, these are current as of 9:10am photos of the mountain for today!!!

So You Wanna be on Top??

Last night we had our weekly ANTM Night! Becky made fiesta dip -- I think I ate half of it! So delicious! We also had hamburgers and homemade fries. Such a good time with the best of company! I took a picture of baby Ry Ry, so freaking cute! He is getting HUGE! I am so excited for him to come! Baby Ry RY had an accident and spilled on himself!

This is Hurley, Becky's dog -- he likes to snuggle during top model!

Becky and I eating mint lifesavers, our breath was not smelling so great after fiesta dip!

And last but not least, Becky and I decided to take some time out to pose with Tyra and the other Top Model girls -- we fit right in!

Abbey

Abbey all grown up

As many of you know I used to live in SLC with my aunt Marcia -- although she didn't technically live there as she spent 99% of her time at her boyfriends house (Dave). Well Marcia got a puppy at the same time my mom did, her name is Abbey and she is Kate's litter mate. At first Marcia's boyfriend Dave was not fond of having a dog in his house, so when Marcia would go over there or to the cabin in Woodland for the weekend I would take care of Abbey. Well after time Dave got used to the idea of having Abbey around and fell in love with her. A little while later Marcia and Abbey moved in with Dave and I moved back to South Weber to live with my mom, and soon after inherited Syd.

Abbey being a good girl staying in the car, Kate tyring to jump out

Well this weekend Marcia and Dave went on vacation to Vegas and needed a puppy sitter so I jumped at the chance to spend the weekend with Abbey! It has been about a year since I had spent some real time with her! I went down Friday after work and Abbey and I just vegged out for the night.

Abbey with her teddy

Saturday she had be up bright and early wanting to run and play outside, so we went for a run together and came back and ate breakfast. I ditched her for lunch and hit up Olive Garden with Jessie, I feel like I NEVER get to see Jess anymore! She is now 12 weeks pregnant! We decided for the evening we would make sour cream enchiladas with her husband and our good friend Bryce and watch a movie. It was so great to spend the whole day with her! And of course the two of us were passed out by 10!

Not the best picture, but Jess, Me and Bryce at Big West Tourny 3 years ago

Sunday was my lazy day! I stayed in my PJ's till noon, then finally got in the shower. I had the great chance to meet up with Matty (my cousin) for lunch at the Red Iguana! I had so much fun talking with him and catching up! He is seriously such an amazing guy! We then went back to his place so I could meet his roommates! Abbey had come along for the ride so we headed home in the late afternoon. When we got home Dave's son Jarel was at the house doing laundry, so I harassed him a little and watched 50 First Dates. Later Mr. Candrian came over and joined us for How to Loose a Guy in 10 Days -- more a movie for me -- but I had the remote!

All in all it was a great weekend and I was so sad to leave Abbey this morning to come into work!

PS. The Basin got 10 inches of new snow -- and I didn't even sluff work! This puts the year total at 412 inches of natural snow....insane! It has been such a good snow year!

My Dog the Flirt

My dog is such a little flirt -- and no I did not teach her this! Saturday evening I had to go drop somethings off at an old friends house so I took Syd along for the ride. Within the 20 minute car ride she had picked up on a truck full of boys and the Taco Bell guy. It all started when we pulled up to the light in Roy (Syd has a little bed that I keep in the car for her so that she doesn't slide all over the place) Anyhow, we pulled up to the light and there was a truck full of guys, Syd runs across the car to my rolled down window and starts barking at these boys. So they finally roll down their window, and she tries to jump out of my window to go and see them (little awkward!) The light finally turned green, she lost interest and went over and got back in her bed. On the way home I was craving Taco Bell so I stopped at the drive-thru for a taco, again Syd jumps up and runs to the window and starts barking and wagging her tail when she hears a males voice. The Taco Bell guy gave her a little cup of fiesta potatos at the window, she quickly grabbed the cup and took them to her bed. What a spoiled little brat! I guess her mom needs to teach her not to take food from strangers!

It's a Black What?!?!

So my dear friend Chris Zilka "Z" was in town this weekend from Florida to enjoy some of our heavenly ski conditions. Can I just tell you how much I love a beautiful spring skiing day with great snow?!?! Z got into town on Thursday night and was ready to hit the mountain at 9am Friday morning. I met up with him and his buddy Matt at the top of Needles at we were off! Chris let me know right off the bat that he was all about hitting up the greens, and had no intentions on doing anything different, but he was joking and skied like a pro on the blues! I also got him to go down a black on the second day! He's a lot better skier then he gives himself credit for, he just needs to use his poles a little more ;) After a long day of skiing on Friday we went out to dinner at Goodwood BBQ, a new restaurant in Riverdale. It was pretty good, although I ate too many appetizers and could barley eat any of my dinner. I was beyond exhausted after dinner so I went home to bed to rest up for another day of skiing. Saturday was a beautiful day! We had so much fun cruising around the mountain, taking a break for a pizza lunch and later break for hot chocolate! I was disappointed in the hot chocolate this time though -- it was watered down -- so Z and Matt didn't get the full experience! Maybe next year! Anyways it was a fabulous weekend, and I think they should make it a yearly excursion!

ANTM Night

So one of my new best friends Becky and I have officially coined Thursday nights America's Next Top Model Night. For all you faithful "watchers" you know that it is really on Wednesday nights, but Becky has piano lessons that she teaches on Wednesday so we DVR it and watch it on Thursday. Becky is a wonderful cook and makes me dinner and we watch the show. We take turns critiquing the girls and laughing, during which I rub her cute prego belly. Little Ry Ry is becoming quite the little kicker! I can't wait for this Thursday night!

Trip to the Puppy ER

Last night when I got home from work I did the usual things -- changed my clothes, put on my shoes and let the dogs out. It was at this point I noticed something odd about Bode, usually he runs from his kennel this time he just sat there. This is where I should probably give you some history -- about 3 weeks ago Bode cut the back of his paw open and had to get surgery on it when it wouldn't heal. On Sunday he ripped these stitches, so I have been wrapping his leg to give it a chance to heal. Yesterday while I was at work he had tried to take the wrap off, somehow getting it caught in the side of his kennel. When he did this it pulled the wrap really tight around his leg cutting off the circulation! So back to him just sitting in his kennel, I looked down and realized the wrap, then I realized his poor foot was DOUBLE the normal size, bright red/blue and oozing gross stuff -- Sam into freak out mode! I ran and got a knife cut the wrap off his leg. Poor guy couldn't even put any weight on his leg, but for some reason being the happy boy that he is still had a smile on his face. I promptly called the vet, but they were unable to get him in -- it was almost 6 at this point. So I frantically called my mom and Mike over and over till one of them picked up their phones. I got permission from Mike to take Bode to the ER, so off we went. The ER Doctor was wonderful, she was very gentle and you could tell that she had a real love for animals. She did an evaluation of Bode, then took him in the back room to get a better look at his paw. He came back with a shaved foot, dragging the poor vet down the hallway to find me. She gave us some pain medication, antibiotics, foot soak, cream and Bode's favorite -- a new lamp shade! This morning he was doing much better, and the swelling has gone down, but it is still pretty discolored. Hopefully he doesn't get himself into too much trouble today!

* Snow *

I don't know what the deal is this year, I must have been a very good girl! Why do I say this you ask -- it's snowing AGAIN! This is fabulous news because I am skiing on Friday and Saturday this week!

Last weekend I went up and skied with Dad #2 (Mike) I had a rough time due to the poor visibility, it was really flat light and I hate not having depth perception! We skied Strawberry all day, and I took a few pictures for my friends that are dying from lack of skiing!

And the classic picture as my friend C calls it -- "The one at the end of the day where only wearing a helmet for 8 hours could give you that hair style, and you look like you've been up for three days" Well here it is :)

Gone to the Dogs

So my week has gone to the dogs -- literally! My Mom and Mike went on exchange for the Patrol down to Brian Head, this left me with all three "kids"! We have had an exciting two days so far. I feel guilty for leaving them home all time, therefore we all pile in the car and run errands. The picture is a little blurry with a glare, but it gives you an idea! I bet the people behind us just have to laugh as we drive down the street.

On Sunday afternoon I decided to make chocolate chip cookies, this was a hit with the puppies. Bode helped by laying on my feet where ever I went, and kept an eye on the oven as the cookies baked. Kate tired to get in on the action -- but was unsuccessful in getting any of the dough!

Syd on the other hand was not helpful at all! She lounged in the living room on the back of the couch to catch some sun. Bode and I then got some snuggle time in.

And by the end of the day we were all pooped! Bode kept me up for awhile with his snoring!

There is no feeling in the world that compares to falling in love...

This will be the year that I will forever look back and say -- this is the year I fell in Love.....with skiing! I have always enjoyed skiing, it was something we did in the winter to make the time to go by faster. But this year, well it has been different. I crave it. I can think of nothing else as I sit in my office and stare at the little bit of sky that I can see. I find myself checking the Snowbasin cameras frequently, the background on my computer is even the mountain. In some aspects I think I am make myself into a crazy person. I've never said this before, but I think it could stay winter forever, and I would be okay with that.

Friday I was a loser, I went to dinner with the parents and stayed home all night long to be rested for the ski day ahead. This proved to a good thing, Basin got 6 inches of snow over night and it snowed all day long! I had an amazing day with Mike and Taylor on John Paul. And I'm ready to go back for more!

To Work or Not to Work

To work or not to work -- that really is the question. I choose not to work! For all you worker bees out there, think of me tomorrow while I am on the mountain, enjoying another blue bird day of spring skiing!

Time to Breathe

Oh my! What a busy weekend I feel like I have been going non-stop since I left work on Friday!

.::Friday::.

12-4 Skiing -- the snow was fabulous! Beautiful sunny day! Dad #2 and I rode up together and met my mom. We did run after run, and by the last one, I thought my legs were going to give out on me! But we had a blast, and I fully intend on taking some more half day Friday's before the season is over!

8pm - 1am -- First let me say thank heaven for Redbull!!! With my legs killing me, I met up with Jessie, her husband Nate and Mr. Candrian, we went to dinner at Gateway and headed off to see the laser show at the Clark Planetarium. It was amazing, I kind of felt like I was on drugs and at a rave, but it was way cool and I was amused! Although I think I enjoyed it the most out of everyone!

.::Saturday::.

I was exhausted so I slept in for what seemed like forever, when I finally woke up I cleaned up my mom's house a bit, got ready and was off again! Saturday night Spencer owed me -- he had ditched me the day before on the slopes, so to make it up to me, we went for hot chocolate and watched "Far and Away". It's an older movie, but very good! If you haven't seen it I would recommend it. This made for another late night.

.::Sunday::.

I was rudely awoken by my mother and dad #2, they were jumping on my bed, and stepped on the little one (Syd). If you know me or my pup, we like to sleep, so we were not very happy about the 8am wake up call. We slowly drug our lazy butts out of bed and went to breakfast with the parents. I then promptly went home and took a nap with Syd.

6-11 -- I headed over to my friend Becky and Doug's house for dinner. Becky made everyone enchilada's that were delicious! We then watched the "Secret Window" it was pretty good, but kind of strange! Not sure if I would recommend it.

So all in all it was a great whirlwind weekend -- back to work for a break!
